Tamur River(Trekking and Rafting)
Tamur River(Trekking and Rafting)
“Tamur River (Grade 3-4) The Tamur River flows from the mighty Kanchenjunga mountain which is the third highest peak in the world. This trip combines fantastic whitewater and one of the most beautiful short treks in Nepal. It has spectacular views of Mt. Everest, Kanchenjunga and Makalu as you traverse along a ridgeline over 2800 metres. Three days trekking and six days rafting/kayaking the river is a beautiful turquoise colour and each day there are big volume rapids of class 3-4. Camping is on beautiful sandy beaches along the river and there is plenty of time for exploring and beach volleyball.
Whitewater Adventures Nepal offer the Tamur Rafting/Kayaking trips from March to May and October to mid December. Starting with an overnight bus journey to Basantapur this takes us to where we start our trekking journey into the river. The overall trip duration is three days trekking and six days’ whitewater rafting. After the river trip, you have the choice to travel back to Kathmandu with overnight bus again or there is the option to fly out of Biratnagar it’s just 35 minutes’ flight. This means you will be back in Kathmandu the same day you finish the river trip. You will need to pay yourself but whitewater adventures Nepal can organize this in advance on your request. Alternatively, if you don’t have enough time to do a bus journey you can always fly both way which means you can finish the Tamur whitewater rafting/ kayaking in 8 days from Kathmandu to Kathmandu from October to mid December, and you can finish in 9 days from March to May.
