Tamur River

The Tamur River flows from the mighty Kanchenjunga mountain which is the third highest peak in the world.This trip combines fantastic whitewater and one of the most beautiful short treks in Nepal. It has spectacular views of Mt. Everest , Kanchenjunga and Makalu along as you traverse a ridgeline over 2800 metres.4 days trekking and 6 days rafting/kayaking the river is a beautiful turquoise colour and each day there are big volume rapids of class 3-4. Camping is on beautiful sandy beaches along the river and there is plenty of time for exploring and beach volleyball.

Bhote Kosi ( grade 4 – 5 )

This river starts in Tibet and flows through the Himalayas of Nepal. It joins forces with the Indrawati River at Dolalghat and becomes the Sun Kosi River. Bhote is a Nepalese word which translates to Tibet and because of where this river comes from it is known as the Bhote Kosi .It is one of the best rafting trips in the world with continuous big volume and steep whitewater rapids. Frog in the Blender, Carnal Knowledge, Liquid Bliss, the Great wall and many more rapids will have you feeling  exhilarated when you arrive at the take out point of the river.

Balephi Khola  ( grade 3-4 )

The Balephi Khola is one of the smaller tributaries of the Sun Kosi and is a lovely tight boulder strewn river with crystal clear water. The river rises on the southern slopes of a mountain called “ Dorje Lakpa, at 6990 metres high. Nice continuous white water with class 3 and 3 rapids all the way down to the confluence of the Sun Kosi River.

Karnali River ( grade 3-5 )

Rising from the famous holy Mt. Kailash in Tibet the Karnali River is Nepal’s Wild West River. It is the longest and largest river in Nepal. It carves through the Himalayan landscape into many beautiful gorges and canyons as it flows down into the forests of west Nepal. Travel through some of the most pristine jungle in Nepal filled with an abundance of wildlife.You may see tigers, deer, monkey and many species of birds. The river is very popular for fishing with many different species. The area is relatively unpopulated and has a real wilderness feel.Rapids such as Rattle and roll, Inversion, Juicer Shake, Freight train and many more will provide plenty of excitement. Camping on sandy beaches and the remote feel of the Karnali River will give a true expedition experience.

Sun Kosi ( grade 2-5 )

It is known as the ‘ River of Gold ‘ from it’s orange colour in the monsoon. It derives from the Tibeten plateau and at the village ofBarabise changes name from the Bhote Kosi to Sun Kosi. The Sun Kosi has been described as one of the best white water trips in the world. Big volume rapids, beautiful scenery, warm water and excellent beaches for camping will ensure the trip of a lifetime.  It flows the from northern part of Nepal and then travels all the way east to the terai, flat lands of Nepal. All the major rivers from the Himalayas drain into the Sun Kosi and the river increases in volume giving a feeling of power. You will travel through lush jungle, rice paddies and pass small villages. Monkeys, deer and many species of birds inhabit this stunning river corridor. A true expedition.

Kali Gandaki ( grade 3- 4 )

The Kali Gandaki River rises in Mustang, which is situated up on a high plateau bordering with Tibet. It boasts one of the deepest gorges in the world dropping between Dhaulagiri ( 8167 metres ) and Annapurna ( 8091 metres ). It’s glacial run off from the Annapurna mountains make for big volume fun whitewater and it is a truly a fantastic river for kayakers and rafters alike. Rapids such as ‘ Little Brother, Big Brother’ and ‘Rafters Refund ‘ will have paddlers feeling exhilirated. There are also tranquil calm sections to enjoy the spectacular scenery and watch the monkeys play on the cliffs. Lush rainforests line the river banks and camping is on beautiful sandy beaches.

Seti River ( grade 3 )

The Seti River rises on the south east slopes of Machapuchare Mountain and then flows south. There are many different sections  to paddle.The Upper Seti  is just above Pokahara which is a fun and continuous half day trip for rafting or kayaking. Furthur downstream below the hydroelectric dam and after the river descends underground below Pokhara there is a really pleasant, scenic two to three day trip. The water is warm and the rapids fun  and relatively straight foward. It is the ideal ‘ family trip’ or location for learning to kayak.  This river is so beautiful with big sandy beaches for camping and you will pass through the stunning jungle corroidor.

Trisuli River ( grade 1-4 )

The Trishuli River starts up on the Tibeten plateau near the famours Langtang region. Legend has it that the god Shiva high up in the Himalaya at Gosainkund drove his trident into the ground and created three springs, the source of the river and hence the name Trishuli. The river is big volume and famours in Nepal for its kayaking and rafting and there are a varity of different sections depending on the ability of the group.One day to five day trips you can journey downstream through rapids such as ‘ Upset’, ‘Surprise’ and ‘ Ladies Delight’ just to name a few. There is also time to enjoy the scenery and wave to the villagers on the calmer sections. Big sandy beaches provide ideal spots to camp.

Personal Spending

There is not a great deal to spend money on the river however we may decide to buy a goat/chicken and some alcohol from the local villagers. At put in and take out points there will be an opportunity to buy drinks and extra snacks.Reccommended to take @5000 rupees for whole trip. Be sure to buy some personal snacks before you head out on the river i.e.)chocolate, nuts ect.
